About Michelle

Michelle Appenheimer: Doula, Photographer, Certified Breastfeeding Specialist

My doula style is warm, educational, and quirky. I believe strongly in birth, and in the power and ability of birthing bodies. I believe that when people feel supported and heard during their birth, it makes a difference in how they feel about their birth experience afterward. Advocacy for the families I support is a priority for me!

Past clients have remarked that I bring a wonderful balance of humour, evidence-based information, safety, and care to each birthing space that I am invited into. I have a wide range of experience in supporting both home and hospital births.

During birth, I offer emotional and physical support, I look for the little things that need to be done, and I make sure that your partner feels supported and nourished as well so that they can be your first source of support.

When I’m not doula-ing or teaching prenatal classes (which I teach through https://www.birthbybloom.ca/ in East Vancouver), you can find me in the forest with my hilarious kids, enjoying the vibrancy of East Vancouver, or taking photos (of birth, families, postpartum, and bodies) on 35mm film.

I’m looking forward to hearing your story!
